The NPD Group, Inc. and its corporate affiliates ("NPD") provide consumer and retail information and insights for a wide range of industries. We have been conducting market research for nearly 50 years. Our clients encompass over 2,000 businesses, including many Fortune 500 companies. ReceiptPal is NPD's consumer receipt panel, members of which submit their purchase receipts using NPD's proprietary app. In exchange for their participation, panelists have the opportunity to earn points for rewards as well as have their receipts digitally organized to allow for easy look-up and analysis. In addition to being a committed leader in market research, we are committed to protecting the privacy and security of your information. In this Privacy Policy ("Policy"), we describe how we collect, use, and share information that we obtain about you, either as a visitor to our website www.receiptpalapp.com or a successor site (the "Site") or as a user of our mobile application (the "App"), and in connection with the services available through our App and/or the Site(collectively, the "Services").

By visiting the Site, using or downloading the App, or using any of our Services, you agree that your information (including your personal information) may be handled as described in this Policy. What Information Do We Collect About You And Why?

We may collect information about you directly from you, as well as automatically through your use of the App and Services. Generally, we use this information to help us provide our App and Services to you, and to use in our market research business to help brands and retailers better understand consumer behavior.

Information We Collect Directly From You.

We may collect personally identifiable information from you, by which we mean information that directly identifies you or that may reasonably be used to identify you as a specific individual ("Personal Information"). Certain features of our App - specifically the ability to receive points and other participation incentives - require registration. To register you must provide your email address, age, gender and zip code. We also may request additional optional information from you, for example your name; date of birth; cell phone number; race and ethnic origin; household income; household size; age of children living with you; and education; however, you are not required to provide us with this information.

Information We Collect Automatically.

We may collect information, that typically does not identify you, automatically through your use of the App, such as: mobile device ID; device name and model; carrier name; operating system type, name, and version; your IP address; your browser type; your domain name; the referring URL, or the webpage that led you to our App; and your access time and page views. We may combine this information with other information that we have collected about you.

Facebook Connect And Twitter

Our App may request permission to link with your Facebook and/or Twitter account. If you grant permission to access your Facebook and/or Twitter account, we will collect certain information from your profile including your likes and interests and tweets. We may also provide you the ability to log in to our Services using sign-in services such as Facebook Connect or an Open ID provider. These services will authenticate your identity and provide you the option to share certain information with us such as your name and email address to pre-populate our sign up form. In the future, we may expand this connection opportunity to other social media or professional network accounts.

Receipt Information

When we reference receipts in this Privacy Policy, we mean receipts of any kind (physical or electronic) and also online order confirmations or other online purchase information. We collect purchase transaction information from your receipts (the "Receipt Information") in different ways. We primarily obtain receipts that you submit through our App, and e-receipts from your email account(s) that you actively forward to us. Depending on your preferences, we may also pull your Receipt Information automatically and directly from your email or other online account, but we will only enable this convenience for you if you have chosen to use such automated feature. Receipt Information includes, for example, details of what was purchased, the merchant from which the goods/services were purchased, any loyalty card information on the receipt, the transaction amount and the date of purchase. However, while it may be on a receipt, we do not need or want any information regarding your credit card or other payment method that may appear, even in truncated form. When you choose to grant us access to your emails or other online account information, that will enable us to collect information about your purchases that you would otherwise have to submit. This also allows you to organize these receipts and earn rewards automatically. Please always remember that the automatic receipt collection features are completely up to you, and that you do not have to grant us this access in order to use our Services. You should grant us this access only if you are comfortable doing so. You can also revoke our access to your email account or other online account at any time by sending an email to support@receiptpalapp.com with your request.

 

Information Collected From Cookies

A "cookie" is a small file containing a string of characters that is sent to your computer or device when you visit a website. When you visit the website again, the cookie allows that site to recognize you from previous visits. Cookies may store user preferences and other information. Third party panel recruiters working with us employ cookies on our Site to collect information relating to recruitment promotions in which they are involved. We ourselves do not currently use cookies, but reserve the right to do so in the future.

 

Web Beacons

We reserve the right to use web beacons, which are small graphic images or other web programming code (also known as "1x1 GIFs" or "clear GIFs"), in our Services. Web beacons may be invisible to you, but any electronic image or other web programming code inserted into a page or email can act as a web beacon. Web beacons or similar technologies may be used for a number of purposes, including, without limitation, to count visitors to our Site, to monitor how users navigate our Site, to count how many emails that were sent were actually opened or to count how many particular links were actually viewed.

 

Information We Collect From Third Parties

We may receive information about you from third party companies that specialize in collecting publicly available information. This may include estimated demographic information and information from public registers, such as the electoral register. We also may receive information about you from other sources. This may include demographic information from data collection companies and others in order for us to offer anonymous market research reports to clients and partners. We may link information about you that we collect from these third parties with other information that we collect about you.

Surveys

Our App may request permission to send you emails containing links to surveys in which we would like you to participate, and may also present you with surveys within the App itself. If you participate in these surveys, we will collect your answers to the surveys.

"Do-Not-Track" Requests

Currently, our systems do not recognize browser "do-not-track" requests.

We use automated devices and applications, such as Google Analytics, to evaluate usage of our Site and, to the extent permitted, our App. We also may use other analytic means to evaluate our Services. We use these tools to help us improve our Services, performance and user experiences. These entities may use cookies and other tracking technologies to perform their services. We do not share your Personal Information with these third parties.

Third-Party Links

Our Site and Services may contain links to third-party websites. Any access to and use of such linked websites is not governed by this Policy, but instead is governed by the privacy policies of those third party websites. We are not responsible for the information practices of such third party websites.

Security Of Your Personal Information

We have implemented commercially reasonable precautions to protect the information we collect from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Please be aware that despite our efforts, no data security measures can guarantee 100% security.

You should take steps to protect against unauthorized access to your password, phone, and computer by, among other things, signing off after using a shared computer, choosing a robust password that nobody else knows or can easily guess, and keeping your log-in and password private. We are not responsible for any lost, stolen, or compromised passwords or for any activity on your account via unauthorized password activity.

Where Your Information Is Stored

Your information may be stored and processed on our servers in the United States. In addition, any of our corporate affiliates or third parties to whom your information is provided (as described in this Privacy Policy) may be located in another country.

Children Under 13

Our Services are not designed for children under the age of 13. Accordingly, we do not knowingly collect information from users under that age. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information or any other information, we will delete such information from our systems.

Special Information For California Consumers

California residents may request a list of certain third parties to which we have disclosed personally identifiable information about you for their own direct marketing purposes. You may make one request per calendar year. In your request, please attest to the fact that you are a California resident and provide a current California address for your response. Unsubscribe

We may send periodic promotional or informational emails to you. You may opt-out of such communications by following the opt-out instructions contained in the email. If you opt-out of receiving emails about recommendations or other information we think may interest you, we may still send you emails about your account or any Services you have requested or received from us. Please note that it may take up to 10 business days for us to process opt-out requests.
